Distributor Advice
First of all, Good luck to those going to the Nationals. Run well and have fun. I hope to join you next year. My Question. I am currently building another motor and have come to a point where I should choose a distributor. I made a mistake when I built my current engine and bought a cheap 009 clone....

Rules Clarification
I am building a new engine and hope to make some improvements over my current one (1915cc). My question to my fellow Solo Veers concerning connecting rod prep. What is our minimum connecting rod weight? FV is 425g or are we heavier? Am I allowed under the current rules to polish the rods? Thank, Ric...

Rules Change
Just read this and looks like something we could agree to for 2015. Subject: Solo Vee rules changes review and proposals for going forward August 5, 2014 It has been some years since the MAC has first focused on improving the Formula Vee from it’s humble low cost single seat road racer to the point ...

Re: The latest results... MAC requests...
It is nice to see this forum active again. Before I start rambling I want to wish all my fellow Solo Veers good luck at the national event. And remember: have fun. I agree with the statement that we need to request changes in the rules. Last year I submitted 2 proposals. The first dealt with the lim...

Nationals and SVee Setup
As a fellow solo veer, I was hoping to get some insight on what worked and what changes we need to petition the SEB. I am still sorting out some of the issues with my car and any advice would be appreciated. I do have a few specific questions. If I see the pics correctly, both cars that ran national...
Re: Muffler
Lynn, which Supertrapp were you using? clamp on spark arrestor or the longer 18 inch with the diffuser
Thanks, Richard
Thanks, Richard
Re: Muffler
Current reading are in the 103db range. I will stick with the SCCA 50 foot measurement as I hope someday to get to a national event.
Thanks, R

Muffler
I need to quite my car down a bit so I can run events out of my area. What mufflers are being used by solo vees that quiet things down without robbing hp? Will a simple glasspack with a turndown work or do I need to break out the big bucks for Burns?
Thanks for any advice, R

Vernon, if you don't mind sharing: Which LSD unit are using and where can I get one? Also, what disc brake kit are you using and how much modification is needed to the calipers to fit the 13" wheels?

Re: SEB class and rule change
I have sent my letter to the SEB in support of the proposed change and if you agree, I suggest everyone do the same. It appears that many of the current FF drivers in CM are against the change as noted from the posts that appear in Apex Speed forum and they are writing to express their concern. http...

Re: SEB class and rule change
Her you go. IMHO I think it is a good idea. The following package of class and rule change proposals, affecting various sections in Appendix A, has been recommended by the MAC and is published here for member review and comment. This set of changes moves the Solo Vee cars from F Modified into C Modi...

Yes, I wrote to them in September. Making the same suggestions that have been discussed. They emailed me Dec.28 and informed me ".
Your letter has been reviewed by the Solo Events Board. The response will be in an upcoming Fastrack".

Re: Rewrite of Solo Vee Rules
One last thought (I had a senior moment)..........I would also like to see the SEB allow a the 1915 engines to use the heads with 40 x 35.5 valves. I am having trouble finding good 39x32 heads and the 40x35.5 heads are readly available and cheaper.
Thanks again. Richard

Re: Rewrite of Solo Vee Rules
I agree with Vernon. Twin Webers would be a good first step if we can not change to Cmod. I would also like to see the SEB allow us to up the compression to 10:1. But since there are so few of us let's ALL start writing those letters to the SEB.
Thanks, Richard

Re: Rewrite of Solo Vee Rules
After rereading all the posts, it seems that there is a general consensus that our best chance to be competitive is to reclassify the solo vee to CM. I have already submitted my letter to the SEB for their consideration. If this move seems best to you, than I encourage you write them also. Even thou...

Re: Rewrite of Solo Vee Rules
I have written the SEB and suggested the changes you mentioned. And I also agree with your conclusions. Adding an extra 25 to 30 hp would help, but it still does not address the shifting and other inherent issues with the F500s that gives them a significant advantage. As far as getting enough solo ve...

Re: Vee Roll Call
Sign me up. I would make every effort to be there. Now I would like to offer a few of my thoughts. Even if we could get 200 hp out of our engines, I am not sure we would be competitive wouth the F500' s They will always have the advantage of no shifting and a lot less weight. I am in agreement that ...

Re: Where are all the Solo Vee Drivers
I would like to add my opinion to this topic. I have been told by numerous sources that no matter how much money is spent or how good the driver, beating a F500 with a solo vee will not happen. As explained to me the reason is simple: size and hp to weight ratio. With that said I think we as a group...
