Re: Zink C4 restoration-the long term project
George, It is Roger again, That old Zink frame is sure looking good. My ownership when you purchased in OK. was quite short, as I took it in as a trade for labor to remove a blown motor (the one with that huge hole in the case) and prep and install a SCCA motor to vintage spec and install in the own...

Re: Autodynamics D13
Axel, I'm Roger, And I am the one who in 2004 restored the D13 back to it's original design, now called vintage! The vee had been used in SCCA racing for many years and Jim Reagen added the new body in 1992. Later it was sold to a young fellow with the last name Vandewalle, I purchased from him, he ...

Re: Share your FV 50th Photos...
First I want to say I had a great time and very much appreciate the time and efforts everyone involved in putting on this event put into it, it was a BLAST! This is in no way a criticisum of anyone or the SCCA, just an observation. But I can now see why SCCA seems to be losing membership. Since 2000...

Re: Zink C4 restoration-the long term project
George, It is wonderful to see such great progress since the vee left my garage! I have looked in my vee stash for motor mounts, but nothing found? I certainly wouldn't want them as they could infect the "better" Lynx parts! God speed getting back, and involve in vintage vee with CVAR! Wha...

Info on the Comet or Haley Comet FV
I'm looking for info on this vee for the book being put together for the 50th. The Comet had a recent owner who was into Solo Vee and was on this site in the last few years. He had done extensive updating for solo events and even had a web site for the Comet, with lots of historical info on it, but ...

Re: Hoosier vs Dunlop Vintage Tire
Chuck, I think I'm safe to say that with in CVAR group, I'm the only one who has been consistently running the newer Hoosier and has had prior experience with Dunlop. However I have never done a side by side tire test, or even a good trouble free test day, so all statements are from seat of the pant...

Re: 1967 Formcar
JMAC, Unlike many vintage racing classes, getting a good reliable engine with the kind of HP you can afford is the easiest part of vintage FV! The reason of course is the fairly stable rules since 1964, that allow us to easily backdate one of todays FV engines with cooling tin, fan, stock oil cooler...

Re: 1967 Formcar
jmac, the Formcar is a popular vee in vintage for most vintage groups. Where you plan to run will have a lot to do with "correct" So you need to find a vintage group you plan to run with and follow their rules, as no one sactioning group leads vintage racing in the US. Where are you locate...

Re: Generator/Voltage Regulator
The CVAR FV group does not have a proposal before the board to require an operating generator. So that rule as written will remain for the next year or so. The only change I am aware of at this time is for the CVAR tire rule; which is promoting the use of "only" a set of treaded tires with...

Re: Generator/Voltage Regulator
I'm not sure that CVAR will require this year, but will check to confirm. I converted mine to a operating gen and followed the wiring diragram that came in the new voltage regulator box and this worked well for me.
I can look for it and or draw it out and send to you.
Merry Christmas,

I could never pick winners either! I overlooked all them old obsolete Shelby Mustangs and 289 Cobras, cause that FV racing always looked like so much more fun! So now all I have is old FV race cars that are worth about what they were when they were new at 5 thousand, when I should have gotten that o...

Re: Numbers on Chassis??
The CVAR vintage vee group would have no trouble allowing this vee, once it is safe to operate! It has it all, a fan, Z bar and coil over shocks. While pictures do not show the tail or nose body work, the vee appears like a Zink clone. CVAR (TX, OK) and RMVR (CO area) both issue their own log books....

Re: Intake manifold...
Jim, I'm not certain how much you are looking to get for your older vee engine? But it seems you are not a long standing FV fan, so a little history here could be important for you to know? Because FV has remained a stable SCCA class using the same ole VW1200 engine for the last 40 years, and during...

Re: Intermediate tires
Both Hoosier and Dunlop make vintage Vee tires that are treaded, and work in the rain. They will not match rain tires in real wet conditions, but A set of 4 of their short tires might be faster then slicks in the wet? Anyone have experience with this option?

Wanted 1969 lynx B exhaust
After reading, I felt I needed to better explain my request! I would like to up grade from the original underslung flat 4 collector design exhaust system on my Lynx B, to a newer design exhaust system that runs over the gear box. I run vintage, with a fan, original (2) shocks, a Z bar and also use t...

Yes very much so, and for a vee of that era to actually look good too! I don't recall ever seeing a Vega race?
I now have a Zink I'm begining to restore, if any one is looking, it can be done your way.

Re: Cable Droop Limiter
Are you working with a vintage vee or a newer vee? Cables were one of the first designs used to prevent positive camber in the early vees, and I hear they still are thought to be excellent in the rain! But at some point the Z bar design took over and almost all vees that were seriously raced and ori...
