Re: Tire Survey
I agree with Michael and John on the slanted survey outcome. As a result I chose NOT to post a response. Having raced FV for 30+ years these rants have been seen before and my question remains why. Percentage wise I don't think the tire equation and its relative cost has changed much in all the year...

Re: Rear axle bearing seals
Here is a trick that I have used for long time on seating these seals using the hammer and tap method. I use an old front bearing race and use the flat side to tap the seal into the housing until its flush. You then flip the race over which is a perfect fit to the outer edge of the seal and tap the ...

Re: Which is worse...Long Box Short Box??
A quick question and then a response... what gearbox do you have and with what gearing? If you have single gearbox, your best option for the two tracks is a compromise using a longbox with a 1:26 3rd gear as Chris suggests. Colin Lawrence was running that combination last year and he was plenty quic...

Roger,
I concur on your statements on Fred Clark. While I have personally never met him, I did buy a Caracal D kit from him not so long ago. Fred makes promises he keeps and is deserving of the recognition you offered.

Dito Dennis,
Perhaps Mr Harding should come race against us old timers rather than run his mouth. I would very happy to test my "old" skills against his.
Had I posted what I wanted say, I likely would have been banned from this board,
From now on my commentary will occur visor down.

Brian, With all due respect, you don't know me and your assumptions are dead wrong. My cars have always been plenty competitive and I am more than capable of incurring the expense to be competitive! Maybe next time you should do some background discovery before you impart such an uninformed viewpoin...

Re: Minimum Weight Survey
Discussions like this and the FV manifold were the kind of BS that had me leaving this class two years ago. Having now bought another FV I am very disappointed that there is a continuing undertone that believes change is needed in the FV class. Having raced in this class for 31 years my opinion rema...

Re: Minimum Weight Survey
Ditto to what Speedsport said. For what its worth the SRF forum has a similiar thread except the guys lobbying for increasing the minimum there are 250+ and the seats in that class are like lazyboys for a guy like me at 6 ft, 200lbs. The FV weight I believe is correct and has proven valid for lots o...

Re: Spec Manifold Deposit Requirement
Not that this will deter the ad hoc committee from continuing to believe there is consensus for their cause, but here goes. I DO NOT SUPPORT the ad hoc committee continuing to pursue a replacement to the existing manifold used in FV by replacement of the VW part that has been used in this class sinc...

Re: Head and neck restraints req'd 1/2012
Brian I used a model 30 in my P2, but I also used a seat. I think a way to determine the angle needed is to sit in the car and take a smartcamber guage and lay it on your upper chest and capture the reading. That will tell you the approximate angle that your torso is at. I think mine was at 27 degre...

Greg
It was pointed out to me that the older red style block may allow for a stock cooler to lay horizontally for a Laser setup rather than vertically.
With the spare coolers you have, perhaps you could see if that is possible.

Re: Rims Wanted
I have some rims with tires for sale 4J's (not the 4.5) at least 2 sets, in great shape $40.00 each.
I also have a set of GY Dogbone rains mounted (maybe usable) same price ($40.00 each). I think they are 4J's as well, will check.
Items are located near Springfield MA - local p/u only.

Re: Regional Championships
The NERRC/NARRC events are a good example of what is being asked for. As Brian points out some of the races count for double points and there are bonus points awarded for competing at multiple and/or all track venues. It is also possible to be a New England Region NERRC Champion without being the NA...
