Re: Main bearing specs.
Bob, it is assumed it is for a FV engine. If it is a street engine, maybe OK. Line boring is not so simple to do correctly and most shops do not actaully have the correct equipment to do it right. If you would like some info, go to the Gene Berg website. IIRC, it has some good info on line boring, m...

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?
Steve, Not a complaint by any means. When you speak I listen 8) I just wanted to be sure... 4) You guys are missing the big picture on the stiff suspension. Ha, I'm quite certain I am. However, I appreciate the further explanantion. I actually thought the design was to reach the "optimum jackin...

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?
OK, it is as I thought. My original question was what the limit for bump is which I figured was the shock fully compressed (or the spring). However, if you then roll the chassis you could get to the bell. It's been answered and I understand it. No need to go further. The rest is much more interestin...

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?
Well, more posts occured before I could put my last one up, which I think answers my question. AND what happens it the road irregularity is a dip? Does your suspension track into the dip on leave the ground? Brian, IF I am understanding how your design works, it is that the weight of the axle/wheel/...

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?
OK, now I am officially confused (not hard to do  ). My original question and title referring to "bump" limit had to do with the opposite of the "droop" limit. As I understood the response, there is no physical "bump" limit except for the axle tube bell hitting th...

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?
"Runs out of spring" is irrelevant. Well I admit to being being on the unknowlegable end but I don't think it is irrelevant. If there is no more "push" from the spring I don't believe the side force at the contact patch is enough to support the weight of the car which is require...

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?
I read through that thread when I first started reading here. "The shock is used to keep the camber from going to positive camber as a safety precaution." That statement only says the shock is an ultimate safety limit. As I recall, Brian has a very high spring rate, and his car runs out of...

Re: WTB ATL FC-152 Fuel cell
I did not know this. Thanks. I'll try Eagle for a quote myself when I have the dimensions.SCCA relaxed standards recently. You need a letter stating that the cell meets the appropriate standards. Formal certification is not required.

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?
Jim,
Thanks, that is what I was thinking. As you and Steve pointed out "off road excursions" would be the most likely problem. It would seem you could provide a limit before the bell becomes the limit. Might not help much as you'll probably bend something in that case.
Thanks again,
Barry

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?
OK, a couple pics. While taking these I *think* I answered my question. The first pic is the tranny without axle tubes or axles. The second is with the axle tube held in place by hand. I believe we call the round part of the axle tube next to the transaxle the "bell". When the axle tube mo...

Re: Bodywork painting
Don, That 69 Charger thread (roller painting) on the Mopar website is about a zillion pages lat time I looked. Some very remarkable results. I read through those a couple years ago. It works and works well if you follow the directions. It is a lot of work if you sand between every two coats (at leas...

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?
Steve, thanks for the reply. I think my question might be a bit to poorly worded. I understand the positive camber limit. I have removed my transaxle in order to make some precise measurements, one of which is just how much actual travel (up/down) there is at the wheels and what the axle angle is at...

Zero roll "bump" limit?
I never had a zero roll setup although I bought parts to build one for the Zink before its retirement. I believe I understand it but as I design the new car I realized I am missing something. When both sides are up relative to the chassis (negative camber) there does not appear to be any limit on th...

Re: Zink Chassis alignment
With the belly pan and firewall removed I have found the transaxle/motor mounts and trailing arm pickup points are square to the centerline. The front is off slightly accounting for the 1/4 inch wheelbase discrepancy. After looking much more closely, the front left beam upright mount is bent slightl...

Ed, Thank you for taking the time to explain this. I really appreciate it. I will have the belly pan off later today as I'm taking the car down to every piece. The belly pan and firewall is all thats left now. Checking last night it appears as thought the tranny is straight and centered. Close anywa...

Re: Zink Z12/18 steering setup
Greg, thanks for the response. The Womer style is what I would use on a new car. However, it would require some chassis mods to the old Zink that I do not want to make in order to preserve it. I can make the mods using the Citation style without damaging the car as the front beam mounts allow me an ...
