Re: Runoffs Qualifying
Thanks for the heads up Mr Davis. I was going to write Terry O. but I'm beginning to see it's just futile. I really think it's time FV, as a group, find another club to race with because we "ain't gettin' no love" from the club FV helped to build. Yes, I know it's an effort to make things ...

Make sure he finds his way to http://www.nefv.org
There he will find contacts that are close to him and where he'll be racing.
Cool car! Hanging on the wall? Buying a bus? sounds like an interesting story.

Re: Noisey tach signal
Mark, We solved the noisy tach signal problem with a magnetic sensor as well. In our case it worked very well. Fabbed a bracket that attached to the case and hung the sensor in front of the pulley, spaced properly from the magnet installed on the pulley. The sensor is also the same as a wheel speed ...

Re: Brakes - drums -> discs
I'm a bit wishy-washy on this subject but curious about what is "junk" about them. Is it the calipers? Rotors? Bracket? If the rotors are OK, would it be possible to use those only and come up with another caliper solution? How bad would it be to say rotors must be steel, non-vented, drill...

Re: November minutes
My initial thought was that disc brakes would be great. I think I was one of the folks at the runoffs that was blabbing about how great it would be to have them. But when you really look at the path to getting disc brakes onto the car, you realize it's not that easy and may be detrimental to the cla...

Re: Eerily quiet,,,,
That was very intense racing! I guess it's exciting when the straights are just as intense as the turns. Unfortunately I did slightly touch you Steve into Turn 1 on lap 11(RF wheel to your LR) and then went for a little ride through the grass and gravel. So at least one of us made a mistake:) I was ...

Re: Runoffs qualifying
If you asked for a separate session, where would the 500's go? They're 18 seconds slower than the FF and much slower than the FC. Having 3 classes in one group seems a bit of a stretch as well. They can't be combined with SM. It's tough call any way you look at it. Brian, I don't see that they are ...

Runoffs qualifying
I would like to open a discussion about qualifying groupings for this years Runoffs. I'm not complaining and have nothing against any other open wheel cars. I'm sure there was much thought behind the decisions as they were made but I'm curious about the reasoning for the qualifying groupings and won...

I tried the lower tail at Pocono last year. One session with and the next without.
My data gizmo showed no top speed increase or time to top speed but I did get much higher oil temperatures.

Re: -2 for front brake lines
Mike, I think I agree with your concern, but I'm guessing it would only be a problem as the pedal goes down during a session (which is a real potential problem). With brakes adjusted up "tight" it would be an interesting calculation to determine which took more fluid to activate, 4 small ...

I just found this software that let's you import data from a data logger and overlay it on your video as a display. You can also do picture in picture or split screen for that John Frankenheimer effect for your race videos.

Re: Formula One US Grand Prix?
The Canadian Grand Prix has been held on a facility that spends most of the rest of the year as a park. Bike, roller blades and picnics only. They have had the Indy Cars and the last couple years some sort of Nascar thing but certainly no club racing. I could see Austin, TX doing that as well becaus...

Re: Minimum Weight Survey
I would think that if we struggle over gaining 1 hp ( good motor) or that extra bit of traction (good tires) that 25 or 50 pounds, give or take, would also be significant for the people that are actually wringing that 1 hp worth of speed out of their car. Maybe on a flat track with no elevation chan...
