Carb setup
Assuming there are any Solo Vees left out there, is anyone running the 1600cc with dual Weber 34 ICT's or Empi 34 EPC's?

Re: Turning/cutting brakes
If you're talking about the lever that directs the brake pressure to one side or the other, the rule book doesn't say it's legal, so it's not legal.
Personally, I'm way to busy in the car to fool with an extra lever. I'm doing good to keep up with the steering wheel.

Re: Rules Clarification
You sure about that? I'm looking at the current GCR and it show C.6 as Transmission/Rear Axle. Section C.5 is Engine, and is excluded from the Solo rules.
I think the OP's question would be covered under Solo rules Appendix A, CM section C.2.b, balancing.

Re: Gears
You may have other obstacles besides gearing. I have no experience, but I've been told that Vees set up for Solo don't handle well on road courses, and vice-versa. Which is why most folks that both road race/track day and autocross have a car for each. Let me know how it works out for you. What I do...

Re: Formula Vee SOLO questions
Can I ask what size rims/tires you are running? The wheels are 13" diameter, 8" width. I get hand me down tires from my buddy that runs FF in CM in exchange for post event food and beer. I'll have to get the car (and the driver) sorted a bit better before I plunk down $900 on a set of tir...

Re: Formula Vee SOLO questions
Rats! I finally get someone to compete with in FM and they move us to C-Mod. Phooey. I'm assuming you'll be running with the Delta region SCCA. I suggest downloading the rule book, as there are specific engine rules regarding displacement, compression, and carburator combinations. Second, there is a...

Re: New match Tour format thoughts
I did a little reading: http://www.scca.com/solo/content.cfm?cid=51267 It's 4 runs on the Saturday, if you don't make the cut you get two more on Sunday for the Last Chance Qualifier, then a shot at the random draw. I don't like the idea. While I don't believe everyone should get a trophy for just s...

Have a buddy that use to run Formula Ford. Had trouble with his vision going blurry on the straights. Turns out the helmet aero lift was picking up his glasses enough to have him looking out the trifocal part of the lens.Lynn wrote:It was a fast course. I got to experience helmet aero lift.

Re: Electric Fans
Spraying water on hot metal gives me a bad gut feeling, and I always listen to my gut. But my gut has no connection to science or physics. If it works for you, then I guess it works. Here's the fan article: http://www.offroadvw.net/tech/wes/fan.html Either do to bad memory or looking at th...

Re: Electric Fans
I did a lot of research when I decided to remove the alternator and fan. There's a very good article on the net about vw cooling, belt slipage, and fan speeds. What I got out of it is that max airflow out of a vw fan is about 700 cfm. There are lots of automotive fans that will provide that kind of ...

I know most of you run zero roll, but there was talk awhile back about sharing performance upgrages, so I thought I share my story. I was having a problem with what I call 'snap spins'. Feels good...feels good...feels good...backwards!! I thought the springs were bottoming out, so I borrowed a set o...

Re: Rewrite of Solo Vee Rules
Of course, you can always run A Mod if that is your choice. Afterall, that class isn't governed by the GCR as you stated . Of course, don't let me stop you from going to A-Mod. That's where my next cone-killer will be running..... I would like one, or both of you, to explain to me how me pointing o...

Re: Rewrite of Solo Vee Rules
There are other non-GCR formula cars. They run in A Mod.Solo Vee is the only non-GCR formula
I'm curious as to their reasoning why weight can't be added to an F500.

Re: Rewrite of Solo Vee Rules
I agree with Mike that a move to C Mod isn't going to cure the problem. I don't think you could ever get a vee suspension to work as well as a FF. If you could, that's what they'd be using. I also agree that creating Vee Mod is not going to happen if there aren't enough cars to fill the class, even ...

Re: Rewrite of Solo Vee Rules
Here's a new thought...have you all (current Solo Vee owners) considered moving the cars back to (road race) Formula Vees and try to get more cars to join you. With no modifications required to the Formula Vee inorder to be competitive, you might be able to fill a class. Just a thought, Mike Mike, ...

Re: Where are all the Solo Vee Drivers
I guess now that I've found my password, I can start chiming in. Since I'm a full 7 seconds behing the CM driver I get bumped with, it's obvious I don't have any major performance information I can share. I'm fighting a really loose condition, and since all I hear is how tight vee's are, I fi...

Trailer for sale
Homebuilt open racecar trailer. Single axle, no springs. Non-functioning surge brake. Got it when I was working on a FF, but my solo vee won't fit. (Well, it might, but it'd be a very tight squeak, and not worth the aggravation). Should fit a formula vee with it's narrow tires quite well. Other prob...

Can anyone recommend a decent transport service? I'm interested in a vee that's in Phoenix, AZ and would need it shipped to Lake Charles, LA, or maybe Houston.
