Re: Vintage Charging system
Hey all, I just wanted to thank you all for your responses. I thought I'd post a follow-up for others with the same problem. I ended up keeping the 6 volt starter and generator as well as the 12 volt battery and voltage regulator. On the dash I have a orange light which I have hooked to the regulato...

fire system question - VSCDA
I am trying to get the remaining prep done to my vee in hopes to run with the VSCDA at Road America in September. I have been reading through the VSCDA and Monoposto rules and am unclear as to the requirements for on-board fire systems. Currently I have a 2lb fire extinguisher located on the floor u...

What gauge wire should I use between the voltage regulator and the battery? Will 16 gauge be enough for the ground?

Re: Vintage Charging system
Mounting the voltage regulator to the fan shroud is not a bad idea. I thought that they were 'supposed' to be mounted on the generator. Looks like I was mistaken. Thanks. So do either of you know if running a 6V Generator, 12V voltage regulator and 12V battery will work. It looks like my starter is ...

Vintage Charging system
I trying to get my charging system to work. I have had two conflicting bits of advice from two people who I trust. a: get a 6V generator, 12V solid state voltage regulator and 12V battery. b: run either a full 6 volt or full 12 volt system. The first advice I had received was (a) so I currently have...

Re: oil filter location
Thanks for the responses. I am mainly just trying to clean up the long oil lines which also make it more difficult to access the distributor. Good point about the frequency of oil changes. I just acquired the car and have dropped out the oil that was in it, but I guess that won't be part of the norm...

oil filter location
I recently purchased a vintage vee and have been trying to clean up some of wiring, etc. Currently the oil filter is mounted horizontally on the frame of the car (see photo of black filter) I was thinking of mounting the oil filter vertically between the engine and the firewall (see photo of white f...
