Re: rear brake shoe springs
The reason for the tab is so the adjustment stays where it is set. You don't want them to lock up or get too far out of adjustment that it becomes a safety hazard. They are easy to replace, just use a needle nose and pull out the broken end and replace with one from another backing plate. Hopefully ...

Re: Some possible rules questions
The beauty of the class is the stability of the rules. This is why cars 30 years old are still competitive. This keeps cost down, not having to upgrade each year with every rule change. I am not in favor of such a drastic rule change. Your idea is not new. When the FST concept was initially develope...

Re: Front Wheel Bearing
You can use the old race to install the new one, just grind the outside edge until it slide in and out easily, then invert and use the narrowed edge against the new race. As for the rust, since you leave it out in the element, the most probable cause is condensation. Just pack the bearings as much a...

Re: Need more input on the FV manifold rules
OK, that was long, but it still does not explain why, when the committee was asked to look into this, it took 3 months before the committee let the rest of the FV community know there was a problem? The committee then wrote a rule that was incomplete as you, yourself, have just stated. The Committee...

Re: February Meeting
I was one of the 3 in opposition. My reason was (1) I did not see any urgency, since there was no reasoning explained. (2) The lag time from when the problem was first discovered,Oct '08 not explained, and brought to the attention of the Vee community end of Jan '09 was too great as to assume any ur...

A grease or dust cap covers the wheel bearing and a hub cap covers the wheel rim or lug nuts.

Re: Newb with a question
The information for the roll bar is on the front of your log book. The other book you are going to need is a GCR (General Competition Rules & Specification). This is basically the go to book for Road Racing. You will have to remove the wing, replace the engine, convert the brake system back to d...

Re: gauges working properly
Check for continuity at the gauge. Make sure you have a good ground, make sure there is power to the gauge and that there is no open between the gauge and the sending unit. If all is good disconnect wiree from sender and with power on ground wire, the gauge needle should go all the way over, if it d...

Re: Low turnouts
Mark, Driver's that do not want to run the A/R's are gridded at the back for the race. They do not receive points, they are scored as completing the race, but are moved to the bottom of the result, Qualifing times are disallowed. However most know our use of the A/R's as they use them too. VARA in S...

Re: Low turnouts
Mark, Read my previous post for rules. The A/R's were selected mainly for their cost and durability. Performance was a secondary concern, as everyone was going to use the same tires. We originally used a softer compound, but swirched to the one we now use for durabilty. This keeps the cost down, lon...

Re: Low turnouts
The SF Region has a spec tire rule that can be found here http://www.sfrscca.org/images/2008/RoadRacing/2008suppregs.pdf page 4 item 7 and 8. These tires can last 20 cycles and cost about $400 a set. Blake Tatum set this up in our region and got the signatures of the FV driver's and presented it to ...

You mention full copy, were there separate copies for each run group? I ask this because my brother in law received a CD with the first run group and he was in the second group. Re: On board camera suggestions
Steve, You can ignore the sound part of the frame adjust. Open the program, put in your avi. file and plug in 25.06 at the fps. This should get you close. I got this from a competitor friend and it seems to work fine. You may have to adjust more or less depending if the sound or video ends first. Ba...

Check your drums for wear, heat checks and out of round, the backing plate if straight and the contact point that the shoe sits on the backing plate is not too worn or has grooved, proper lube where the shoes contacts the adjuster, wheel cylinder and backing plate.

Re: Transponder Location?
Most locate it towards the front. The signal can go through fiberglass but not much else. You should try and protect it as it is only made of plastic and will bust apart if it takes a direct hit. The wiring shouid be routed in a way to avoid it getting cut, if hard wired.
