Re: New SCCA Board Chair"Man"
Only seems fitting that in the 50th year of Formula Vee, the club saw fit to have a family member that is known to represent the class, as the Chair of the club. Congratulations,

"FV was not on its deathbed at that time" When did this event occur? FV was the second largest class at the Runoff, the third in Nationals, and seventh Regionally. I could paraphrase Mark Twain, the story of FV's demise is slightly exaggerated. Perception, seems to be viewed very different...

5.1. Schedule Modification: The Chief Steward may alter the schedule at any time before August 27, 2012 for any reason.
Additionally, SCCA reserves the right to modify the schedule based on the number of entries in each class.
I guess we may see if they are serious.

Only to those that refuse to listen. As for taking a swipe at someone that has a differing view than you, not very helpful in pushing your cause. Very childish.

Re: Different needle bearings on front beam
The second one just looks like the bearing got pushed in too much. Easy fix if you have a bearing puller. You can just leave it, but the turkey leg will be riding on a different area and the torque angle will be slightly different.

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results
I have rented my car a few times and even offered it free to some, all they had to do was supply tires, fuel, entry fee, maintain it themselves at the track and pay for damages. I did the towing to and from. It is not a money maker, but I did it to get more racers out. The response from most has bee...

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results
Mark, I have seen enough polls to see one that is slanted when I see one. The results were predetermined. It wasn't until the fifth question that the purpose of the poll was asked, and then, only with a condition. No where was the option to leave the tire rule as is, asked. Yes, the poll had a defin...

Greg states: "The technology is available. The exact same people making the current tires would be making the new tires, so why would they be worse? What we need now is the will of people, that are sceptical, to make it work. Paragraphs of fear-mongering is not helping." Asking opposing pe...

It doesn't take the best engine, suspension, tires, or car to run with the front pack at the regional level. John Obviously, you've never run any regionals in the San Francisco Region. I would have to say to run consistantly in the front you need to be well prepared. The front runners in our region...

I use a bolt and nut. Remember cotter pins should never be reused, it would be like reusing toilet paper, not a good idea.

Having stayed there the past two years, I can say it is a good place. There is a coffee shop that gives a discount, where you can enjoy a good breakfast before heading to the track in the morning, and a Starbucks on the way to the track.

fake edit: when I strap the brake pedal down and check the front brakes, they seem to be fully locked - but if I try really, really hard, the wheel will start moving. And once it starts moving, it doesn't seem to require that much effort to keep it going. I remember learning about static vs kinetic ...

Opinion vary, I've had them on my car for over 2 years. Brian H. They have been in use for over 30 years. I would have expected, if the design were bad, that it would have been dealt with. No one will ever test for use on a FV since the group is too small. The area that is the weak spot on originals...

Personally I find drums have an advantage, Less drag. It helps to properly set your set your brakes, advantage those with experience and knowledge.

Mark, That is a loaded question. Basically the interest seems to vary by region. I can only speak for us out here on the West Coast. There is no interest, hence there is no competition. They can not qualify at this time to be recognized for National status. I keep hearing those that are in charge an...

Re: Front beam bump stop removal
It could cause some damage to the body and or tie rods if you do not have any droop limiter on the front end, either by a strap or internally in your shocks. It is dependent on the amount of travel of your tie rod and clearance in the body and frame. This could be by off track excursion or simply by...

Re: Brake bias and general brake questions..
The Carbotect's are more abrasive and will wear the drums more. I always turn my drums within .005 of each other to avoid any possibility of a brake pull, then I mic the drum to arc the shoes, once I have bedded the brakes in, the drum and shoes become a matched set. I also flip the shoes from prima...

The video is a little deceptive. Toad is running on American Racer's and the side walls flex more than either the Hoosiers or G/Y's. Watch the rim and you will see it does go positive but not as much as it seems. This is one of the reasons that the A/R's do not corner as well as the other two. Bruce
