Oct 4-6 Summit Point entries?
Is there interest out there from Vee drivers in attending this event? It is not part of the MARRS schedule and I'm trying to gauge entries as I'm planning on attending. The tentative schedule is a 10 lap race on Sat. and 25 laps on Sun.

Re: Gearbox lube
So would it be feasible to run a staight 50 weight motor oil, or does gear lube have certain specific gearbox-friendly additives?

Re: Neck Restraints
Unfortunately Dennis I won't be doing any racing until I get back from our trip to Italy in Sept. The wife told me that if I got injured in a racing incident and didn't succumb initially, she would make sure to finish me off afterwards. I hope to do the final MARRS event at Summit in Oct. Sorry I wo...

Neck Restraints
I need to get a neck restraint and am debating between a Hans and a Necks-Gen. I'd appreciate any input as to the pro's and con's of each device, or any other device I'm not aware of that might be recommended. I have a D-13 so I also have a rather severe seat angle to consider.

Re: Lightening axles
Mark, I have the original D-13 floor pan, but would be a little nervous about going thinner. Dave - I already have the lighter starter. smazzy - I will look into the leading arm idea. tiago - helium is so 20th century, there's got to be a lighter gas available these days. Thanks again to all f...

Re: Lightening axles
Thanks for all the replies to my question. I'm 25 lbs overweight and already have the lith-ion battery and hi-torque starter and want to cut weight, but mainly in the rear for better balance.

Lightening axles
I want to lighten my rear axles. What is the legal way of going about this - or is it a case of finding lighter axles out of the junkyard?

Re: Spec Tires
Has anyone participating on this thread had any conversation(s) with anyone at Hoosier about this issue? I'd like to know if they are even aware of the concerns of the Vee community concerning a long lasting spec tire. If they are good businessmen, they will realize that if class participation incre...

Re: Midwest FV Drivers Association
I think these local Vee associations(if formed) should concentrate on promoting Regional events if they want to try to build numbers and also the fun quotient. There is an informal group in the DC area that promotes Vee racing (mainly @ Summit Point) and does a great job of producing a good sized fi...

vrehein,
I don't think the foam honeycomb would be too feasible because of the body shape (D-13), but I appreciate your input to my inquiry.

Re: Kevlar Body Construction
Ed, Thanks for your input concerning my inquiry. I have aluminum side impact panels now, and because of the way my body has to be mounted, will probably keep them in place and use a lighter weight kevlar weave. Can you suggest an appropriate weight for this application? Thanks again for your time wi...

Kevlar Body Construction
I am considering using kevlar to construct a new center body section for my car to lose weight ( I'm about 25 lbs over) The weight of the current piece is 33+ lbs. I want to use kevlar because of strength and lightness, and I have read various articles that people have integrated e-glass in the cons...

Re: Mono shock zero roll for D-13
I love the handling of the D-13 also. I had a Laser for a few years and hated it's unpredictability. I sold it and got in the Caldwell again and was smiling ear to ear after the second turn. The reason I'm looking at changing the current set-up is that I am punching such a big hole through the air t...

Mono shock zero roll for D-13
I am thinking of switching from the dual spring/shock set-up on my D-13 to a single shock system, but don't know if that would require a different exhaust system and trailing arms. Can anyone fill me in on how difficult this is to change from my current configuration? Also, does anyone have one of t...

Re: Bent Wheels
Tiago, I 'm looking into a simple $100 changer from Garage Equipment. A friend of mine told me these work well, but are easier to use if you mount it (he mounted his on plywood) to utilize it's leverage better.
