Re: january florida national

Steve, how many of those new tracks provide National Events in your division? Also, Do you know what happened to Greg Bruns? Almost ALL of them. Neither Nashville nor Barber (yet) offer a National, but we still have TWELVE Nationals scheduled at SEVEN different tracks in SEDIV. Even though National...

Re: january florida national

Here in San Francisco Region we have 1 National event. Low entrys have been blamed. Well, if you have more events, you may have more entrys! Just a thought. L Bacon Trust me on this... It is the TOTAL NATIONAL EVENTS per *DIVISION* that has the biggest impact. If you have 25 National 'in Division' ...

I've been waiting for that 'shoe drop'. After the entry for Homestead last year, I'm not really surprised.
New track and all... guess they've got to pay for it somehow.
Talk about killing the goose ...

Re: And the 2009 PAX for F Modified is . . .

Not to hijack the thread, but FWIW Jay was at the ARRC with a prototype (not completed - just the engine sitting in a bare frame) of the new 600 car - he said it took very little frame mods to fit the engine. It has (will have) PADDLE SHIFT and looked pretty interesting. The engine should turn up to...

Al,
Thanks for the report. Glad to hear that Eddie's OK, though it was a good bit worse than at first thought. Hopefully, he can find a car he likes better :).

Bill, I'll be there to spectate (and drive the pace car) and to pick up my tires/wheels from Butch. We're expecting a great show ... just be sure to remember you want to take all those cars home intact :). I won't be there Thursday, but will be up Friday and Sat. Hunt me down if any of the guys need...

Lee,
Not sure where you're headed, but you might check with Tim Lee at SafeQuip (SafeQuipRacingProducts.com). He carries a bunch of stuff and services MOST SEDIV races. He might have what you need and be THERE when you need it. :).

Re: erratic engine

Don't forget to consider the MASTER SWITCH in the process. In my own case, I got one with a key that wasn't 'right'. It BARELY made contact in the ON position (but I didn't realize it). After having it 'flip' itself off on 2 occasions (during races), I pressed IN on the key and found good contact. T...

Re: Official Discussion Thread: SCCA Runoffs

Brian, The new GY tires are significantly different from the old 430 and 420's from previous years. I consider them to be measurably better and the circumferences are the same (within 1/2 inch) for the fronts and short rears and about 1.5 inches less for the tall rears (better I think). They have go...

Steve Saslow's car reportedly suffered extensive damage due to his late race crash. Stephen, Are you recovered enough to give us a brief report on what happened and the damage to yours and Eddie's cars? That's REALLY the pits for both of you as I know that you both had previous crashes during the e...

Congratulations to FRED CLARK!!

Back in MAY, FRED CLARK was selected for induction into the Road Racing Driver's Club (RRDC) - a VERY select group of professional as well as amateur drivers, and a few who are just associated with the sport. Current President of the RRDC is Bobby Rahal. I was not aware of this till now, maybe some ...

Re: Long vs. short box

Anthony, I'm certainly no expert, but the trannie from any VW bug or bus during the years of 60 or so to 64 should be good. you DON'T want the early split case (you could USE it, but it probably wouldn't fit your internals) - the case is split vertically down the middle. Just don't get one of the la...

Actually, both configurations are TRAILING ARMS. The FV GCR does not mention the allowance of 'leading' arms ... therefore no cars use them
It just a matter of PERSPECTIVE..

Re: Short Axles ?

Yep - the later models used a longer axle and tube. If you get the wrong ones, you'll be 'over track' on the rear. I don't recall what the actual measurements are, but I think the long ones are a bit over an inch longer than "ours". Tough to tell by just looking at them unless you're prett...

For those that might be interested, I finally got around to creating a 'real' excel spreadsheet to do the calcs necessary to determine internal gear ratios. If i might interject a suggestion here. If you are in FV and are getting LAPPED by faster classes, do EVERYTHING you can DO to let them through without hindrance - including SLOWING a bit here and there to allow them to clear you before you get to a turn/brake point. Yes - it might not be 'fair', bu...
