Re: What kind of Formula Vee do I have??
Looks to me like an Autodynamics- Mark 3 possibly with some frame modifications.
What are your plans for the car as there are some things that would need updating in most organizations?

Mike:
I do not have a stainless, but I have several flat 4's - I think one might even be brand new. Various lengths on the single pipe.

Sam: You might start by scrolling down on this site to the Vehicle section. There is a car for sale in NY ( I know you are stationed in GA) but this might work for you. Dave has a car and trailer and might separate . And although I hope you will remain on this site to ask your questions, ApexSpeed i...

Re: Help identifying this Vee
Briefly, from what I can see:
tires, lack of link pin suspension, trailing arm ( singular), wheels, length of nose over the front end, coil overs shocks on front.

Re: Help identifying this Vee
Really can not help as this is NOT a Formula Vee.
If it has a VW engine, then my guess might be an early Super Vee ( with headlights)
Others might be able to give a better answer. Sorry.

My question was more along the lines of...
Are you planning to ROAD race the car with SVRA or VARA, SCCA, or run Solo's with it?

Re: Is this a Beach Forumla V ?
I am not an authority- by no means so this is a guess. The trailing arms look like they would belong to a Beach, but the body is more along the lines of a LeGrand. Go down to the classified section of this forum ( trailering...) and there is a Beach for sale with a picture. Might I ask what your pla...

A couple of observations and suggestions as well as answers to your questions: Once on the ground, if the tie rods are hitting across your ankles, you can "step" the pitman arm to get it higher. Let me know when that time comes and I can help you out. You might find that the steering box t...

Re: Shock ID
Can't be certain, but from the looks of the bump rubber, I would guess those are Bilstein shocks. The steering damper is used on D-13's on the rear and could be original VW , CoFap, Boge, or... and readily available . So, the question is...do you want to restore to some period or do you want the car...

Jason:
The engine bolts to the trans and slides in as one unit. The shocks ( yes, you need coil overs) attack to one of the through bolt holes on the trapezoid. There should also be a plate that bolts to the trapezoid and the TOP of the engine case.
Hope this helps

I believe you decided at the time not to place an order.
150 pieces were brought in and at the last count, 750 were still available in Germany.
The only lack of interest might be for stock piston ring sets from K/S. Have not heard from many on trying to place an order.

In the past, many have mentioned Greyhound. Have never tried them myself but might be worth looking into.
Next best bet would be to have the parts crated and shipped.
Have a good broker if you need one.
Or a long weekend family vacation.

Re: 1600 case , Oil cooler, shroud ?/
Jim: There were two versions of the 1200- with and without cam bearings( one year) . If the generator stand is removed, there should be a "D" shaped hole in the top of the case. If it has a round hole, it is a 1200, but MIGHT have had cam bearings cut into the case. Both are single pressur...

If you are running a sump extension OR even the stock sump plate, a screen over the pick up might have helped.
Something to think about on the new one.

Re: 1600 case , Oil cooler, shroud ?/
Tom: If you "lunched" an engine, it is quite possible that you had metal in the oil before the rod ( and /or bearing) let go. IF this is the case, then running the old cooler will /might be a problem or lead to another problem. Not sure where you sourced your 1200 cooler for 190 dollars- I...

Re: 1600 case , Oil cooler, shroud ?/
Tom: I can not speak for your organization- you would have to contact them to see what rules apply. MOST organizations that run monoposto DO NOT allow the dog house cooler arrangement nor do they allow a remote cooler. The 1600 shroud will fit with some help from a hammer, but once again, you have t...

Tom: Welcome back. Always nice to see people come back to FV. Yes, the universal case is allowed and available. That is where the good news ends. The case ( alu-mag) is expensive. My selling price is 850 and I have 2 available right now. You will also need "o" rings or spacers to use the 1...

Welcome to the Interchange.
QA1 has a shock that will fit the D-13 very nicely: SS 7555B . It will take the 2.250 inch spring . You will need the collar and the seat. You might be able to use the cone from your old shocks or buy new.
Hope this helps.

K/S piston rings
Several people in the last few weeks have asked about the availability of piston rings- especially the one piece oil ring with the coiled expander as used on OEM K/S pistons. I have contacted K/S and they have ring SETS available. A SET consists of 3 rings ( 2.5mm top, second, and one piece oil with...
