Re: Just don't get it!
Random letters just get buried by opposition from a few people, or elite FV drivers (with tire deals), whom SCCA politicians rely on for FV input. To get things rolling, the FV community needs an organized lobby of FV racers, who send 50-60 letters demanding the same change. Most of all, it needs th...

Re: Just don't get it!
Why do people compare Canadian F1200 to US FV racing? Sorry, not to belittle them BUT their group is like a small SCCA region only 15 cars or so. Racing IS expensive, Racing has always been expensive, and Will ALWAYS BE EXPENSIVE. Learn to adjust your brakes, and cycle and conserve your tires. Go r...

ex-Siebenaler Autowerks engine
Autowerks "house" engine purchased in spring of 2010. Used 4X in 2010 to qualify for Runoffs. Parked in my shop since. Stamped AW-18 1898 with Dave's rebuild date of 8/09 (pre-Runoffs). Rice Race Prep inventory # RRV-03 No intake or carb included but I'm hoarding AW carbs so I can likely s...

Just don't get it!
Lots of complaining in various places about run groups, etc. All valid. Reduced FV car counts and resulting race groups are the 2nd biggest threat to FV, the biggest, of course, being the FV competitors themselves. Unless you live in one of 5-6 areas in North America, where FV has some degree of car...

Re: looking for formcar
Fortunately Butch Deer and John Harkness did not believe that Formcars were slow and proved that they were not on numerous occasions. Not many come available for sale. Watch this space, the SR web site, ebay, or the Samba for any leads. If you are ambitious try a craigs list consolidator like searc...

Re: looking for formcar
Why? They are crappy uncompetitive race cars, good for parades or displays. Not much else.
A Lynx, Zink, or Autodynamics is a good competitive vintage FV, many seconds per lap faster than a period-correct Formcar.

Re: April Minutes
The idea that I am using the 20 or so hours in a week I spend on club business, sabotaging needed change or ignoring the wishes of our membership, is ludicrous. I'm left considering the source of such nonsense and discount it accordingly. What do you do other than sabatoge potential solutions to FV...

Re: April Minutes
I think Steve and Michael both understand the process the CRB follows. Errors and Omission guidelines are fairly complicated and restrictive. If the intent of the language is not achieved; either due to wording or the definition of the wording, then the E&O gets more complicated and may not app...

The crb better send that out for member input. Im already very unhappy this got freight trained through. How can something like a major rules change not be sent out for member approval?? This whole deal stinks. The committee seriously overstepped their powers on this one. Sorry, not outraged, merel...

Its been a week. One single person is outraged.
Why drag it out? Get R Done ASAP so alot of other people don't have to spend their resorces to build cheater parts for the Runoffs that they will have to take off for 2014.

Re: April Minutes
I think its great that the SCCA people in power are taking strong steps to stop another manifold-type situation where a few selfish people are willing to throw the FV class under the bus by taking advantage of creative rule interpretations. If a rule does not adequately define parameters that are ge...

That sounds promising "Hoosier is out of tires" hope wont turn into a Carbotech or Goodyear deal But they are an event sponsor and paying for the test day. Best to save criticism for atleast another week  It is time to celebrate the past, and put reality aside for a few days. 8) They...

Re: Brake thought for the month
Perhaps people with perfectly arced shoe-drum combinations can get away without pumping, but I've never had a car that did not need pumping between every adjustment. The 2nd person helps alot. Tiago, wait until you're as old as most FV drivers before you complain about the physical toll of FV brake ...

It must be 10 years ago, that I submitted a rule request that all new FVs being built must be built to the FIA cockpit opening rules, just as every other SCCA formula class is (and has been for almost 30 years). Head surround systems and driver entry issues would be accommodated much better with a p...

This is one of the magical early M2s like Bamford's and Seibenaler's. Bamford's car won 9 races last year. Siebenaler's, well, its won over 100 races in 20 years, and 3 Runoff podiums in last 3 yrs, only about .5 secs away from 3 Runoff Golds in 3 yrs. This was regarded as the fastest of all the M2s...

With the demise of "national" racing and SCCA moving into a more "rational" format, there is even less reason to evolve FV. FV and FST need each other desperately to protect their race group from faster formula classes. That (having to run with much faster cars), is the biggest t...
