Re: Front drum part number
ChrisZ, I use custom wheels built for the Canadian FV series (WCMA and F1200). There's 2 models available, I have the older type. I torque at 55lbs.
It was a long time ago, but I tried a set of similar wheels with EMRA. Torqued to 65 ft lbs and the brakes were li...

Jean,
Which wheels do you run? And what do you torque them to?

Re: Was Brad's Brundage Cup block OK?
After watching today's F1 race, I can now see the evolution of the block and I can attribute it to 4 people: Jackie Stewart - not intentionally of course - he would hate the block - but his push for safety made it possible, Gilles Villeneuve - the first, I think, of the car control drivers who would...

Re: Was Brad's Brundage Cup block OK?
Unless you've raced without mirrors, you may not understand what the pro-anti-mirror guys are talking about. When you drive an open wheel race car, you drive a different style than if you raced a closed wheel car for fear of launching one or both cars. When you race without mirrors you also change ...

Re: Was Brad's Brundage Cup block OK?
In this day and time, we DEFINITELY need mirrors... Steve, FV80 Why? I never really understood the reasons. Why do we need to know what's going on behind us? To block someone from passing? I'm just asking because I don't see a need unless I'm backing into the garage. If you are racing in a mixed gr...

Re: Was Brad's Brundage Cup block OK?
These blockers are not going to stop their activities until they are taken out a few times. If you chose inaction for any number of valid reasons, then do not be upset that you followed your plan and the other guy won... after all you let him win by not taking him out. Brian Hmmm - maybe you could ...

FV Minimum Weight
Hello, I have started a thread over at Apex Speed to collect information on if the minimum weight should be raised from 1025. I would prefer that responses be posted there, but realize that some people may not want to sign up in order to post. Here is the link: http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/showth...

Re: Is there a such thing as to fast?
My dad and mom run what is arguably the most successful slot car raceway in the US. Open since 1966 and I'm very proud of them. See the site link below. Ricky del Not only that but both drove FV if I remember right. I raced Pro HO in the 70's and raced there. My last job was in elevators and D&...

Check out this video on YouTube:

This was 1994!
And if you were a slot racer in the 60's (and read Car and Driver) you should recognize one of the names.

Re: Is there a such thing as to fast?
What amazed me was that the "drivers" actually seemed to know what was going on. I just saw these blurs and had no idea what car was on what track. If we assumed the track was about .7 miles scale, 800+ mph would be about right. The concentration is so intense, if you are racing with some...

Re: Is there a such thing as to fast?
I have been racing a slower version for over 30 years - really helps with those FV reflexes.
We have an 80'ft oval that we lap in less than 2 seconds with $50.oo cars.
If you want to see even faster (scale speed) cars, do a search on HO slot cars....

Re: Bolt on valve covers
Chris, Bolt on valve covers are already legal, unlike the front pulley (seals) were at the time I assume you are referring to. The question on the table is whether to *mandate* the use of bolt on valve covers under the assumption they would stay on more of the time, thus reducing the effect on the ...

Re: Take an hour and watch this
Bill, I took my school in 1976 at Thompson, and raced for the next 3. Jackie would have loved Thompson. The road course was next to a golf course and was used as the paddock for the stock cars. It was not unusual during schools and lapping to come flat out over the crest in the back and find a garba...

Re: Bolt on valve covers
It looks like there are 2 camps, but like the front pulley issue, I don't see a performance advantage. Trailing arm cars (in front of the axle) don't seem to have as much of a problem with the cover getting knocked off. Not to say it can't happen. Leading arm cars do. If there is no performance adva...

Re: Take an hour and watch this
What a hatchet job. I've driven both the Nurburgring and Monaco, in addition to raced at Roebling, the real Road Atlanta, and other southeast tracks. While I admire Sir Jackie Stewart and his driving talent, he proclaimed Roebling as the most dangerous track he'd ever driven. As such, I've lost res...

Go ask the spec racer ford guys how many heat cycles their DOT Yokohama's, or more currently, Goodyear's will last ......... maybe 7-10. Hum this is where there is a difference with WCMA. WCMA never mentions the silhouette aspect of the rule. It looks like any forward facing duct has to make a 90 degree turn, wherever it is located: From the WCMA technical regulations: " h) Forward facing air ducts may be installed for the purp...

In 2003 they claimed 63,000. So I find it hard to believe a drop of 21,000. I can't find the current numbers anywhere. The height of membership was when you got a membership for every one who bought a Subaru WRX (someone check me on that). If we still have 42,000 then that is still a substantial nu...
