Current Draw
A few questions on current draw... Does anyone knows the current draw from the coil? I saw for an MSD coil a quote suggesting that the ignition will draw 1 amp per 2 thousand RPM for a 4 cylinder. That would suggest 3.5 - 4 A max for us. Would this be the right ballpark number for our Bosch coils? A...

Re: November minutes
... The bottom line is we just want to stinkin' race. We want to go out and beat the other guy fair and square. If we didn't get him this race we'll get him next race. That's all we care about. I think the lack of enthusiasm for changes in this class mostly stem from this fact and that we don't car...

Thanks for the responses. Some of these are 4 gallon cells. Is that enough fuel for most tracks? John

My experience goes along with Dietmar's recommendation. When I popped out of gear over bumps, it only has happened when the motor mounts were loose. John

Re: Wheel cover ban
I find myself divided on this subject. I want the innovation/evolution, since this is not a spec class and I'd like to think that some day I will have the time to apply some of my own ideas. I think we all believe we have something to add in the way of new ideas and would like to do some of them to ...

Re: Spec Tires
Has anyone participating on this thread had any conversation(s) with anyone at Hoosier about this issue? I'd like to know if they are even aware of the concerns of the Vee community concerning a long lasting spec tire. If they are good businessmen, they will realize that if class participation incr...

Re: VEEFEST 2012 at NHMS May 26 & 27!!!
It's not too late to register for the 2012 VeeFest at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Memorial Day weekend. There will be a buffet lunch sponsored by the China Consortium (c/o fellow racer Colin Lawrence), and a raffle with items from several generous companies and FV vendors supporting our event...

Re: transmission questioni
I did have a loose motor mount like Paul mentioned and it did this, but over bumps. Mine was actually a loose rear tranny mount. It's certainly easy to check for before doing a teardown, although our expert vee mechanic friends most-likely have it right. John

Re: Spec Tires
Tiago, I like your view of us folks in the US, seriously, it was a good read - I enjoyed it. My recommendation is to try borrowing a set of tires for your West Coast adventure. I'm sure there are a handful of people willing to lend you a set. They really don't last only one weekend, as unpopular as ...

Not much thinking - more like just typing! I didn't say I thought it was a problem or not, I was just explaining one way that drag occurs with fluids through lines - in case someone cared. John

Re: -2 for front brake lines
Brian, you're right about the fluid displacement at the master cylinder being the same as that in the wheel cylinders, and the rate would be identical if it's incompressible. BLS, about friction, it's a good question. The brake fluid along the surface of the brake line walls does not move due to bou...

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results
I think it would be most helpful for people to just state what you think will work, or even list some suggestions and things to think about, and why. Make it simple. Sort of like what GT6 did - nice job. The more ideas we can collect, the better.

Last year when I called Carbotech asking about brake shoes and availability, they seem to know who has them and who orders them for stock and then makes a run based on that demand. Maybe they can help you locate some.

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results
The survey was limited in its ability to have everyone's interests completely captured, but no survey could do that - they are all limited. It had to categorize the issues somehow and gauge the interests of the class - it's a start that was needed. What it did do was ask a handful of questions that ...

Re: Midwest FV Drivers Association
That would be my recommendation to growing ranks - local promotion. Contact other regions that have good fields and ask them what they do. Some or all of what they do may work in your region. I think that even strong regions should talk with each other to share ideas - can't hurt. Maybe different re...

Re: Tire Survey
I spent about 6 months watching this forum before I bought a vee. It was a tame time on the forum, apparently, since it was very helpful then - almost no bashing as I recall. I've been on forums and am used to bashing, but our forums have become extreme in that regard in recent years. I think I woul...

Re: Tire Survey
I was surprised as well. I was going to post something similar to Michael. It seemed to me as well that even if the community were leaning significantly towards no spec tire, that the survey results would still indicate a spec tire is desired. I'm concerned that such results would send the wrong mes...
