Re: Brake shoes
Just make sure the shoes fit the drums before installing them. This is all very good information. Thank you all! From my point of view as a new FV driver and doing my first set of shoes on the vee it has been a big help. Brian, can you expand your thought a little on the quote above. How is this ac...

Re: Brake shoes
Their web site leaves a lot to be desired and does not list the vee shoes. A call to them will suffice but make sure you get the race compound, R4D. I paid $119 for each axle. $238 for all four wheels. It may not hurt to let them know if your drums have been turned before and try never to use new s...

Re: FART's Fifth Annual FV Invitational Race
Thanks guys, appreciate the welcome and don't worry Troy, I plan to race in Portland as well. Got my engine back from Noble, so I just need to drop it back in and see if it runs!

Re: FART's Fifth Annual FV Invitational Race
OK, thanks Jennifer and Bob. I hope to have about 6 races under my belt by then so hope not to be too much of a hazard to navigation. It appears there is a regular group of vees that run routinely at Mission, once I get through the novice program with IRDC, I presume I can race with you folks at Mis...

DOT 3 or DOT 4?
My new to me FV has Girling masters and I've disassembled the brake system, now it's time to refill and bleed and have no clue what type fluid is suitable. DOT 3, or DOT 4 or can I use my vast supply of ATE blue?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The clip groove appears to be fine, it appears that the clip was simply never reinstalled by the previous owner.

Re: Clutch lever
Thanks Paul, the input shaft is sitting in a hole in the bench and now I see the land for the circlip, cool. That's an easy fix. I think the previous mechanic forgot to finish the installation as the nut on the clutch cable pulley was only on hand tight.

Clutch lever
The clutch lever on my transaxle has almost fallen off. From the marks, it appears to have been in this position for some time. I quick tap with a bronze hammer and it slid off, however it's plenty tight on the shaft, just seems not to have been pushed all the way on. Is there anything that is suppo...

I like the idea of a shift light, something like this?brian wrote:If shift points are your concern, a shift light is better. They're accurate and easy to see when you're racing.

Re: Tachometer question
Brian, It is the high quality VDO, but I'm moving the wheel up an inch (new panel) and real estate is limited (to see through the steering wheel. I may simply relocate the tach to ensure I can see the important part of it (4 to 7k rpm) most of the time. I'm also considering using a different wheel -...

Tachometer question
I want to install a smaller tach, I see 2" units available that will work, how does one go about insuring the tach is reading correctly , within 100 rpm? Are they all just perfectly accurate, or does accuracy depend directly on price paid? Any specific brand better than others? Is it reasonable...

Re: July Minutes
Yes, I have a lot to learn about FV, and racing in general. After spending this season flagging and asking questions, I think it's definitely the class for me. I was drawn to FF, but they don't seem to be having as much fun as the FV crowd.

Re: July Minutes
Hi Steve, I bought Dave Schrady's Caracal C (in Monterey), complete kit including trailer and spares as he's retiring at the end of the season. I plan to do the ICSCC novice program with IRDC. I'll be flagging with IRDC, SOVREN and SCCA for the rest of the season, Trials at the Ridge in October with...

Re: July Minutes
I am a firm believer in the free market. While the cost of Vee parts has risen, and availability of Vee parts has diminished, look at the package deals that are currently listed. They are dirt cheap, and in some cases you can purchase a complete package for less than the cost of a conversion. Mike ...

Yeah, I like the idea of FV, everyone I've talked to about it are very supportive and accommodating. Sure seems like a nice group out to have some fun and enjoy racing. I'd like to chat with you at dome point about your experience in the IRDC novice program.

Re: New FV wannabe looking to crew
Who started a rumor that NWR wouldn't be racing next year. That is 100% false! I do recommend the IRDC novice program though. Great way to get familiar with racing, flags, etc. They do a great job. I came up through that program as well. You could also swing by my place and help me put Tiago's car ...
