Re: Last minute helpful hints/suggestions?
an air tank or small compresser, to add air to tires. glass cleaner, visor after each session, rain suit of some kind, if you not ready for it it will rain. I followed someones suggestion and picked up a small air compressor from Harbor Freight for $40. Got the glass cleaner and towels in bulk from...

Re: Last minute helpful hints/suggestions?
I do have the vee 'first aid kit' already. I'll have to sort thru my spares and see what I have and don't have going by your list.
How much gas can I anticipate going thru? It's a 3 day weekend, if I'm going with the AV gas how much am I going to need?

Last minute helpful hints/suggestions?
As driver's school gets closer and the car is getting back into one piece I realize there must be tons of stuff I'm not thinking about. Any last minute hints/suggestions as I'm getting ready? The trailer is only so big, how do I determine which spares to take? How much of what fluids do I need (oil,...

Re: Grattan and Blackhawk Farms Vee Fields
Well the field at Blackhawk Farms and Road America will be increasing by at least 1 more at the regionals. Once I take drivers school in April, I'll be joining the ranks. So come on out, enjoy some midwest hospitality and I promise you it'll be a fun race.

Re: Where to start?
So the car is coming together, drivers school is right around the corner. I need some belts. I've seen assorted website with prices on belts from $170-450. What's good? What is the difference between the low end and high end on belts other then name? I currently don't have any belts at all. I can se...

Re: Brazil VW Pistons & Cylinders
I heard a rumor that Mike Varacins is going to break the 2 minute mark at RA this year in his vee. Talk about not sharing secrets.
I'm kidding of course, cause I'm going to break that mark.

Formula Vee in the UK
Browsing the different vee sites I saw that there is racing in the UK. Does anyone have any experience related to or know anything about vee racing in the UK? How does it compare to racing here? Are the cars any different? I'm sure there are different builders there then here.

Re: Air compressor & generators
I saw an ad for Harbor Freight, a 3gallon 100psi oilless pancake compressor for $40. From what I've been reading that should be enough? No rush on the generator, maybe Santa will bring one.

Re: Air compressor & generators
Hey don't shoot the messenger :) Don't worry we won't shoot you... but either way it doesn't matter for me since I have even less access to a scuba tank. I think a air compressor would be much more feasible for me, just trying to figure out the proper size, etc... that's right for me without stretc...

Air compressor & generators
So I'm sitting here at work dreaming about racing next season. And like any adult male I start thinking about gadgets and toys. Not in any particular priority I'm thinking about a generator and an air compessor. What do most people use at the track? I'm in no rush to run out and buy stuff, just foll...

I also have a Mychron3, do I need a transmitter? Or as long as there is one at the track it works for everyone?

Re: Where to start?
There are three things I need just to get on the track; a transponder and belts are two of those. For transponders I know I can go direct wire or rechargeable. Does either make a difference? Or is it just a matter of preference? The second thing is belts. When selecting belts are there certain belts...

Re: Where to start?
Okay, the list.. Mike and I sat down and talked about a number of things for the car. Initially to get the car on the track I need belts, a transponder, and a new starter. Mike said he did not have the engine rebuilt while he owned the car and didn't know when the last time it was rebuilt. It's a No...

Re: Where to start?
Yes I am a member of SCCA, the last 4+ years I've been working rescue. So if you crashed, went off track, had any kind of problem at BHF, RA or MM you might have had me there to help you out. Now it's my turn to race. I bought the car from Mike Schiffer in Cape Coral, FL. Mike provided a lot of info...

Where to start?
So I just picked up my first racecar, a '90 Mysterian. It's sitting in my garage with a half dozen boxes of spare parts. What do I do now? I know that's a really broad question but what I mean is where do I start? The list is long between things I need to do to the car vs stuff that would be nice to...

1) Is your car wired to start on the plug in/booster battery only? 2) Do you plan on using the booster battery on pre-grid? How heavy can it be?
