Re: pistons
Dykes rings have an "L" pattern we also use an inner spacer. This is a picture of a Dykes ring. Sorry for the large picture, it the only way to see it clearly. http://www.dansmc.com/dykesring.jpg This picture is a little misleading, the ring fits in the piston groove http://www.mecoa.com/f...

The Formula Ford body work came off Don Anderson's son’s 1981 Van Diemen RF-81 club formula ford, the decals are from 1990 when they ran the car.

Re: Need opinion on car to use for drivers school
I received a lot of good advice while getting into a vee racing... unfortunately... I didn't listen. I've spent (wasted) a lot of money... The only thing I finally did listen to... was RENT a car for drivers school... a fully sorted car with a crew experienced who can actually help with drivers scho...

Re: What kinda vee is this ???? HELP....
I was kinda sure it wasn't a Zink... but the pictures make it clear. Thanks. The owner had no log book and no history on the car. He lost the previous owners info and name. He only knew the car was raced at Bridge Hampton L.I. I can see some "race repairs" to the frame but no numbers. The ...

Re: What kinda vee is this ???? HELP....
Thanks Roger, the frame looks similar, but it has a lot of differences. Still not sure if it's really a Zink or a home built.
I love the retro mirrors, I need them on my modern Vee!

What kinda vee is this ???? HELP....
Pick this up yesterday, it was listed as a Zink... the frame has been modified... A LOT, rear roll updated and the old front "hoop" is cut away and was in the process of being updated. I was told it was raced on L.I. aka the golf course now... I also received a lot of vintage formula ford ...

Re: Lime Rock Configuration
I've raced at Limerock several times since the new construction and the "new construction" is irrelevant since the SCCA National and Regional races use the Classic track. Here is a better picture so you can see the differences. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4073/4825530244_73992957a0.jpg

Re: Lime Rock Configuration
They use the standard track without the chicane, it's a long box track. Third gear into turn one thru the esses and into 4th on no name straight all the way back to turn one.

Re: Throttle cable
I know I'll get a lot of flack for this post many Vees use Bicycle type cables. Bicycle cables fray easily, especially if they are exposed to harsh weather... water, dirt, etc. Hard core bike riders change the cables every few years, not sure that many racers do... A great solution is to go with a m...

The first sction in th GCR is 9.4.5.G G. Front Impact Attenuation 1. All formula cars registered or homologated with SCCA as of 1/1/1986 must have a front impact attenuation device meeting at least one of the following criteria: A. Has anyone built a front impact attenuation structure for a Vee for additional safety? I know a few guys have sprayed insulation foam in the nose... any other ideas or pictures? 9.1.1.C.3.A.10 10. Re: Seat Padding
I use the Pegasus 1/2 padding in my car. It's very similar to the padding you'd find in a football helmet. It compresses under hard pressure and totally rebounds back to shape. The adhesive backing is very strong and sticks great to anything. The fire bottle in my Womer is mounted right above my shi...

Re: SFI Decertifies IMPACT
Unless this gets cleared up soon, even with an annual tech on a car I wouldn't try and show up to a race or the grid with a set of Impact belts. GCR states "Throughout the racing season, the Tech crew is encouraged to perform regular re-inspections through walk around observation in the pits an...

Re: Adjustable droop
With most airbag suspensions, you can remotely control the pressure/length/size of the airbag. This is posted up on E-bay, it is used on a sprint cars to jack up either side of the car under the coil... if one is installed in a typical zero roll... it would change the length of the shock/coil combo....

Dave, by the time a front drum needs to be replaced and can be used as a spare to balance a tire... it's not in the same condition or balance as it was when it went on the car.
