Re: FV Racing Sim Development

The front camber number is for each side and the rear camber number is the total or 2.75-3.00 degrees per side in the rear, but since it's zero roll we only talk about the total.

Re: FV Racing Sim Development

First, I want to thank you for all your effort. I've been racing your FV-sim on rFactor at tracks that I actually race at (mainly Vanport, i.e., Portland International Raceway, but also Laguna Seca) the last couple of days and the car feels remarkably like the real thing to me. As an example, I've r...

Re: Fitting in a car

Stephen, I've never been in impound with you when we were both weighed, but I'm not surprised that you're heavier than 1032. Quinn, the Protoform P3 might be a good car for Dean. I knew right after I posted that I'd misstated because I have been in impound with you many times and, although I've neve...

Re: Fitting in a car

I believe you should be thinking about whether you can ever make minimum weight in FV with any of the mentioned manufacturers. At 235 lbs you should seriously consider F1st. I have the prototype VDF and I bought the car from a 6"-1" 200 lb man and he made minimum weight in FV. It was a tig...

Re: EFCN Trackside Live: FV Birthday Party Coverage

I agree on the video, but I really admired the way Grenier set up Stout for the win--pretty tough to do it any better. Thanks for the coverage Formula Car News.

Re: How Much oil?

I'd just like to add that you always check the oil level with the motor idling as suggested because I learned the hard way. I lost a couple of really good motors by trying to cheat a little on the oil level because I was getting so much oil blown around the engine compartment. Oil wipes off with a c...

Re: FV Racing Sim Development

This information was supplied to me by my son. I wrote him last night and asked what was causing the picture to not show up anymore. Here's his reply which includes an answer to your question, I hope: "That forum is having technical difficulties. They're trying to fix it, but don't know when it...

Re: Infineon FV In-car Video

Thanks. Infineon is my favorite track. Turn Two, in particular, is a joy in a FV (the right hander at the top of the hill). When things are working very well it's a shift to 3rd only with no brake and then turn into a blind apex such that you get the right front over the curb just enough to not upse...

Re: 6 or 12

When I first bought my VDF 1 (prototype) it had the starter mounted with the solenoid located above the transaxle, but it was not rotated exactly 180-degrees. What Randy Martin did was cut off the mounting holes and then fashioned aluminum clips both top and bottom to locate the starter at the posit...

Re: Dick Renard Racing - Fox Cars RE-3

I just remembered a name of one of the owners: Max Crittenden drove a Fox for a few years in the early eighties. He lived in the Palo Alto, CA area and I think Dick Renard was from San Jose.

Re: Dick Renard Racing - Fox Cars RE-3

That's a west coast car but it was before I got back into FV in 2002. Ask the question on the LeftCoast FV site and I'm sure someone will be able to give you more information:

Sorry, Ian, there was a malfunction and I didn't get anything. It's too bad because I was really looking forward to seeing my attempted pass of Jim Petrek heading into T11 on the last lap.

Thank you Ron Chuck Engineering. He tells me that a few other of his motors on the west coast have about the same hp and a couple have a little more. I do love the way it sounds on video--not like a volkswagen at all.

Infineon FV In-car Video

Small bore Formula Car racing is alive and well on the west coast. Last weekend we had 12 FFs, 20 CFs, 4 F500s, & 22 FVs start the Saturday race: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1430032070752514978 Ian Sweeney won both hotly-contested races in his Crusader as 48 cars started the Sunday ...
