I use D-rings bolted through the floor, axle straps and rachet-straps. See below: (pretty much the same up front.)

Great time at an Autocross last weekend!
A good weekend! I changed from a 13 X 7 front wheel to 13 X 8 so I could run a wider front tire (Hankook 180-55-13 C91 compound). It really helped with the handling. The steering is a bit heavier, but the grip up front is seriously improved. The tendency for under-steer is much less. It was most lik...

Re: Advice for first time with rain tires.
Mityfast... that street legal FV makes me drool every time I see it! I got lucky. The rains held off until the afternoon. I ran in the dry. Neat course.... but VERY slippery with small loose gravel. Kind of like running on an old shingle roof. I was sand blasted during my runs & spent a fair bit...

Advice for first time with rain tires.
It looks like tomorrows Autocross will be under a fair bit of rain. I have a set of 23 X 5 X 15 Goodyear Eagle rain tires that I have never used. Any advice on what pressure I should be running with the rain tires will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Scott
Well, safety / legality issues aside... it isn't going to happen. The adapter plate will not fit with the disc brake caliper. So, it's drum brakes for me until I am ready to switch out my wide-five wheels for four lug. S...

I had not thought about the legality issue. I hope that is not the case with Solo class!77fmod wrote:I'm not sure about the clearance issue but you may want to check the legality of running an adapter plate.. Johnny B.

Re: Solo Vee Disc brakes... anyone converted?
One potential problem looms on the horizon. I ordered adapter plates so I could still use my wide five lug pattern wheels. In reading up on doing the conversion, I read where one individual had a problem with the adapter plate interfering with the caliper. Anyone have experience with this issue? I r...

It is a retired and converted 26 ft. diesel powered Uhaul truck. My son and I put it together for our Jeeping adventures. He is off to college and I have moved on to faster fun! It worked very well for the Jeeps (one inside and one behind). I can carry all the tools I need, it has a living area up f...

That's good news. But what about the proportioning valve. Anyone have thoughts about the proportioning valve? Will the one that I have now with drums front and rear be OK for the new set up?dd46637 wrote:They don't take a lot of grinding. Just be careful.

Re: Solo Vee Disc brakes... anyone converted?
Well, I guess I am going to find out how much grinding it takes. I just ordered a set for the front. They do only come in four lug, but they sell an adapter plate that will fit the wide five bolt pattern rims. It's three weeks until the next event, plenty of time to get them on. I wonder if I will n...

I am thinking about making the switch. The cost is very reasonable. Has anyone taken the plunge? What are your thoughts?
The drums do work..... a bit of a leg press, but workable. I am interested in hearing about the experience from someone who has already switched.

Cheap enclosed trailer tire rack
After looking around at several of the pre fab tire racks available, it became clear that none of them were what I was looking for. So, for very little $$ and time (did it after work today), I added a tire rack. Two 24" E-tracks, two E-track 2x4 holders, 4 2x4's and a couple of 2x4 hangers and ...

in Autocross? With the 835 lb car, the cones let you know they were hit!! Lousy picture... but look at the front right tire. I did not even feel the hop, I just saw it in a video. I never saw quite the same reaction from my Solstice when hitting cones... and I've hit a few.. sigh http://img....

Venting the valve covers seemed to do the trick! I ran an autocross yesterday and had zero repeat of the smoke issue and there was only a trace of oil in my catch can at the end of the day. I had noticed previous to venting the covers, that there seemed to be oil drips from the dip stick after runni...
That's my thought. Do your run. After finishing, hit the 'misting' switch in the staging area for a minute. It certainly would be a cheap cooling system.

Are you checking the Cylinder Head temps? I made that mistake, relying on oil temp - overheated a head, dropped a valve seat - trashed the head and nicked the piston crown. I've been using a hand held pyrometer since then, putting in a Cylinder Head Temp gage this season. I don't have a Cylinder he...

Re: oil cooler
I think the need for an external oil cooler depends on the size of your run groups, Mike A recent 'test and tune' made me think about it. It was such a small group, that I barely had time to get out and back in (OK, I admit these @#*& 5 point harnesses have been a learning experience for me :oo...
