Re: Nothing I would say .....
A Mazdaspeed 3, Solstice GXP and Tundra Pick-up make up the stable here. No cool Vdub's other than my Solo Vee. Now.... Boats? That's a different story! My true sickness floats in the back yard. From clown boats, fishing boat, dive boat to houseboat. Thank goodness my wife has the water bug too.

Re: Nothing I would say .....
Actually, I like your strategy! You know you will regret it down the road if you sell that unique Vee. My fear is that you do sell it and the next person fades into obscurity with it. At least while you own it, I know where it is and can continue my life quest of eventually having it in my garage :l...

Re: 1982 Morton Vogan 1st autoX
I usually run events with CFR, FAST and the BMW club. I am running a CFR autocross at Brooksville this month on the 18th. The CFR SCCA typically does not have an overload of participants, but a ton of runs. 12 runs at last month's event! Very nice to see another FM in the area. There are a couple F5...

Re: 1970 Lynx vee
I am pretty much a Nubee in this stuff, so I am sure I will be corrected if wrong. I would leave the battery up front. At least then the weight up front would be a constant. Understeer is one of the things I have had to learn to 'drive around.' Having a variable weight up front might make that more ...

Re: 1970 Lynx vee
A bit too much front brake bias made for some interesting front wheel movements under hard braking too! That one was an easy fix. Sitting so low can really make it look like a 'sea of cones' coming at you. Just go for it and have a blast! Nothing will speed you up like seat time in your new Vee.

Autocross last Sunday
I went to a local Autocross last Sunday. The venue is a police training course. A lot less grip than the asphalt at Brooksville airport where I usually run and I had to run a muffler and supertrapp. They had a pretty quick course set up, not very long though. We did get 12 runs!!!! I managed FTD by ...

Re: 1970 Lynx vee
Good luck Jaymzz! You will have a blast. The biggest part of the learning curve for me has been to 'Trust the grip.' Post up your results.
I am running tomorrow at a local event. It's an Endurocross. Several laps per run. Should be approx. 2.5 minutes per run.

I'm still up in the air about adding another car to the stable.... but that Amod would be pretty fun! Thanks for the tire info.

Re: Rain tire advice needed
Thanks Lynn. I use diamond wheels for my slicks. I also have a spare set I could use for my rains. What Hoosier tire model do you have for rains? Thanks.

Rain tire advice needed
I have a full set of skinny formula Vee rain tires and wheels. However, I am sure that there is a better tire to be using in wet conditions for a Solo Vee. What are you folks using? I don't mind having to get a new set of wheels for a rain tire set up. I am sure I can sell the Formula Vee wheels and...

Re: 1970 Lynx vee
It looks like you have made a lot of progress! I had some low rpm issues with my Weber. (I have a single 40 on a 1600) I found that the low speed idle adjustment was pretty critical. Of course, cleaning out the gunk should help. A blast of carb cleaner during a moment of desperation during an autocr...

Great idea! Looks solid and like it works great. I have been wondering how to fit two in my trailer if my wife really gets into driving too. MacGyver has nothing on you.

I have been playing with the video camera and found I can freeze a single frame in the video. Here's a pretty neat picture her killing a cone that same day.

My wife is coming over to the Dark Side
My wife has been autocrossing her Solstice GXP for a few events. Now, she has decided that she wants to go a little faster. A few us us spent the day Sunday testing & tuning. A perfect chance to give my wife some seat time. I was pleased to see that she was ready to push it as soon as she was ha...

Re: Winter projects???
No huge projects here. Only about a month break for winter. New wheel brake cylinders all the way around (It's nice to actually have predictable braking for once!), tear down the Weber and clean it out thoroughly. New pads on the rear drums. And lastly, changed the rubber on all corners. Coming up o...

Re: Too quiet too long on the Solo Forum....
I dug up the actual regulation regarding roll bars for Solo Modified. Appendex c: 2. The top of the roll bar shall not be below the top of the driver’s helmet when the driver is in normal driving position, and shall not be more than six inches behind the driver. It is strongly suggested that the rol...

Re: Too quiet too long on the Solo Forum....
I used 'freeze frame' to take a close look at the video and you guys are dead on. My helmet top is even with the top of the roll bar. Not a good thing should the unimaginable happen! It is time to play around with my seating to see if I can get to where I need to be. Now it makes sense how the prior...

Re: Too quiet too long on the Solo Forum....
Seeing the video brings up a question about roll bar height. Does the roll bar seem low? I have a small fiberglass seat that can be adjusted to allow a very upright forward position or the more traditional lay back Vee position. Or, removed entirely. In the upright forward position, such as you see...

Thanks Paul. I would be happy to store your Huron down here during the winter as to make sure that nothing suffers from lack of use during the cold months. I promise to send pictures of it being driven all winter!
