Re: Weekend SCCA event
The shawl over the rocker adds a nice touch - not to mention the (apparently) free standing LAMP  . That think sure looks longer than 24 feet - did you take the car out when you shot the pic towards the front or are both pics taken in the same configuration? I have a 24 footer and I don't ...

Weekend SCCA event
The Central Florida Region SCCA held a Saturday Test & Tune and a Sunday Autocross. Good times for the Solo Vee. FTD Sat. and Sunday. There were supposed to be three F500's there but only one showed up. He was not a problem. The real competition came from a very well built and well driven CRX! T...

Another good weekend with the Solo Vee
The local BMW club put on an Autocross at the Brooksville / Hernando Airport. We had a blast. My Son came down from Gainesville (UF) to run his Maxda3 in his second Autocross. He is chomping at the bit to try out the Solo Vee. I guess I'll have to share my toy. These sure generate a lot of interest ...

Lug bolt or Wheel stud and nut?
I have Diamond Racing wheels with the wide five bolt pattern. I have noticed that the stock VW lug bolts only screw about 3/4 of the way into the brake drum threads. In my mind, for full safety, they should reach clear through the threads and sit flush with the inside of the drum. I have not been ab...

Congratulations Lynn. Hope you get everything sorted out by the weekend. How much HP / torque do you think you picked up over the 1600?

Re: Heading to a S.E. Divisional this weekend
Hope you get it figured out. Stay in touch. ((What... no mention of the TeamFRD Formula Super Vee taking event FTD! 8) )) Hi David. FTD by a good margin I am guessing! You had that car flying. Good meeting you and the other folks from the Buccaneer club. Hope to see you at Whitehouse Field. PS Than...

Re: Heading to a S.E. Divisional this weekend
It was close. Oh the drive of shame..... past everyone... getting back in line..... praying everything still works, or there is back up equipment  The weather was perfect today. But evidently I caused an issue with the spin. I was getting some significant wheel hop with my front left wheel. I h...

Looks like I may be in for a bit of an education Maybe I can pick up some pointers. I'll take some pictures and post 'em. I guess I'll need to use a pretty fast shutter speed for Vern!

Re: Heading to a S.E. Divisional this weekend
Lyle is one of them. I have heard he is a excellent/fast driver. The other is a local guy from the Tampa area. How do the F500's usually fare against the Solo Vee's? I have only ran against the local guy and done OK. I am guessing they can make things pretty difficult.

Heading to a S.E. Divisional this weekend
I am heading to a S.E. Divisional event in Gainsville this weekend. Looks like I will be the only Solo Vee in FM. There are a couple of F500's attending. If the weather holds, it should be a pretty good time. There are only around 60 entrants. So after the three runs for points, there should be time...

Here's how my set up is built. More of a spring loaded gate than a total lock out.

Re: Sitting.... just sitting and waiting
More good times today. Probably around 65 cars, seems there were quite a few no shows. We got 5 runs in. Pretty neat venue. A much faster course today, I was WAY into third gear. It was nice to run over to the infield for lunch and see / hear all the race set ups. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...

Re: Sitting.... just sitting and waiting
There ended up being approx. 55 cars today. I had 4 runs in the morning and 3 after lunch. (actually 5, due to some re-runs) Missed FTD due to one well driven / set up ZO6 Vette. Oh yea... and a shifter cart... not really counting the Kart because nothing designed by man could possibly move that fas...

Sitting.... just sitting and waiting
I drove to Sebring, Fl. this afternoon so I can attend a two day autocross event. Now, I am just sitting... waiting until tomorrow. I really wish there was more of a following of Solo Vees in this area. Several Formula 500, QRE Shadows, Dolphin Mk1 etc. will be competing tomorrow, but no other Solo ...

Hi Mityfast. You have one of the ONLY Vee's out there you can drive to the event in! Tires will really make a difference. I was running Hoosier R25As and they really warmed up quick. I have the site for a guy who sells used Hoosiers somewhere. I'll dig it up and pm it to you. Scott BTW, I do have so...

Re: How to get a cheap trailer
I love ideas like that!! You are correct about the aluminum salvage value. I had an old aluminum boat trailer that I was wondering just how I could get rid of. I told my kid he should call around and find out what the metal recyclers were giving for aluminum..... he did, I saw the sawzall get fired ...

Snookwheel, Are the axle tubes strong enough so that they do not bend with the straps in the middle like you have them? Keith I had not thought about that, but you make a good point. I really don't know how strong the axle tubes are. But I think I will take your suggestion and move the straps as fa...
