Manifold Heat Sink
Manifold Heat Sink
What is the easiest way to remove the heat sink from a VW manifold?
Re: Manifold Heat Sink
Either way you will have to be very careful. Either saw it off or use a torch and melt it off. I have used the torch method and it's not too tough.

As brian wrote;
But I would strongly suggest a torch use carefully.
The stuff melts real easy.
And I presume this is a stock thickness manifold.

Re: Manifold Heat Sink
Thanks for the info, what kind of torch can you use?
It's a stock manifold, with a little porting.
Butane - Propane - MAPP - Acetylene
4,925----- 4,579----5,301---- 5,589-------Flame Temperature in Oxygen (°F)

veefan:
Use an oxy-acetylene torch, wear glasses in case you hit a gas pocket, heat the alu and strike the manifold with a hammer and the stuff falls off.
Hope this helps
