Basically all the DNFs were involved in a first turn incident on the first lap. It had rained overnight and there was only one race before us so the track was still damp in some places and Turn 1 was slick. A F500 spun and Jim Oseth had no place to go and hit him as he was backwards. Unfortunately the rest of the DNF cars also had no place to go and hit Jim. The F500 driver went to the hospital and all the FV drivers were ok. Unfortunately, it looks like Jim's car got the worst damage. The race was black flagged and restarted and then black flagged again with about 10 laps to go due to other incidents.

There were two main battles on the track, Tupper, Saltenberger, and Shields had a great battle for the lead with Glenn Tupper earning a well deserved 1st National win.

Me, Doug Voss, Scaler, Weisheit, and Ray Qualls battled hard for 4th position and it was good clean racing from my perspective.

I called and talked to Chris Lore the 500 driver last night to see how he was doing. He has a fractured vetibra and is not felling to good. He has no nerve damage which is good and he needs to find an orthopedic specialist to go see about possible surgery to repair the damage.

He did apoligize a few times for ruining our race but he thinks as he crossed the stream of water he just lost it under acceleration and spun in front of the vee field. Unfortunatly when they gave us just the one minute to go instead of five I was tightening my belts and forgot to turn on my in car camera so I don't have the crash on tape.

So Ed, was the FIRST think that came to mind when the accident started to unfold.... the fact that you had forgotten to turn on the camera?
