Vintage Vee trans for Road America
Long box or short box? I used to use a short box in a modern vee but what about vintage vee?

Re: Vintage Vee trans for Road America
All the vintage FVs in VSCDA will run a short box (final drive) at RA, since we don't get much over 6000 RPM.
A few of us have the 1.22 (long) 3rd gear, but most have the 1.26 (short) 3rd gear. I think I got the 3rd gear ratios correct?
Best regards,

Thanks. Just put the short box in so I'm good.

Dave,
In VSCDA (and most vintage Vee) we must run 24" dia. rear tires (equivalent to a tall tire)...so we always run a short box, regardless of the track.
1:22 3rd gear if you're a fast driver (requires smooth, fast cornering)...1:26 3rd gear if you're a regular driver (to pull you out of the corners).
