28 PCI Accelerator Pump Tube

Newbie question...

Do people run the little u-shaped tube in the carb for the accel pump?

A VW guy looked at my engine and asked why it was missing - the gas shots straight up when the throttle is hit. I thought maybe it was an airflow thing, but can't find any info regarding it.

I do run a large (about 4 in dia x 6 inch high) K&N filter, so it is not an issue with the filter installed.

Thanks

Keith:

The gas shot up just like it is supposed to!

The 28pci (look on the side of the bowl) should have two items in the top of the carb- one that is cast is the acc pump "tube". Some have a small "jet"screwed into it. The brass tube is a vent.
The carb that has the "U" shaped tube is later and is NOT used for FV.

Hope that helps

Actually the gas shoots up and down, but when the engine is running the upper spurt doesn't really go up very far.

But as Dietmar says, it sounds like yours is working right.

Excellent - finally something going my way.... may be a trend, but hate to jinx myself.

It seems to run fine, but have not had a chance yet to get in any real hot laps...

AS ALWAYS, THIS FORUM IS ONE OF THE REASONS I GOT A FV and will be one of the reasons I stay with a FV..
