Spec Fuel at Nationals

Post by hardingfv32-1 »

This is a proposal for only Nat racing: How about requiring fuel from one supplier, say Sunoco, with a fuel marker in it. I'm assuming that the proposed fuel rules are going to allow the use of some form of very expense fuel engineered to meet the new fuel rule. I would say this is a given, it cannot be stopped. It is going to be much cheaper to buy and ship a 55 gal drum of spec fuel. There is going to some expense associated with our fuel supply no matter how this is handled. We need to face the facts and deal with them.

Spec fuels don't work except at special events (e.g., Runoffs) because no fuel is available throughout the country. Some tracks have contracts with fuel suppliers and they are not all Sunoco. Some tracks have no fuel available at all. Even fuels that have the "same" manufacturer and name aren't necessarily the same because they are blended regionally. Further, even from the same regional facility, they vary in their content depending on the base stocks used to blend the fuel.

Your would order this spec fuel from a dedicated supplier, say Sunoco. Shipping could be worse in some parts of the country, but this is life. This is NOT a track fuel. You have to take care of your own fuel supply. If you want to win you are going to have to purchase and ship some type of fuel. It can to $8-10 Sunoco or $40-60 custom fuel. There is no way around this.

A consistent fuel marker for all regions is the goal.

One more time: no fuel is available throughout the country, including Sunoco. And they will not ship it to you as an individual. What's more, many racers do not want to carry their own fuel to the track. Your idea is simply not practical.

Some Sonoco retailer will ship anywhere I wish. Just as VP or ERC would. Yes, expense, but net cost will not be as much as a custom blend.

The fact that some racers do not want to carry fuel is of minor importance. The majority of National competitors already carry their own fuel. This is a solution for the majority. To be competitive you will have to purchase and ship a custom blend unless a better fuel rule is established.

Sorry that is a stupid IDEA! You are limited by Federal and state law as to the amount of fuel you can transport. The fine are heavy and open you up to many ticketable offences. This is especially true is you are stupid enough to have any sticker on your trailer or tow vehicle, that makes you a commercial vehical.

You're joking aren't you, just how many racers even now such laws exist. I have traveled in every state and have never see any such warnings posted. IF, your have such concerns then you can have the marked fuel shipped to the track. This is still cheaper than using the exotic fuels. Unless you do something, there is going to be some competitor bring C44 to the track regardless of the laws.

How do you plan to stop the use of expensive fuel?
