I went to the user control panel to try and put up an avitar but don't see how to up-load one? Are there instructions somewhere?

In the user control panel, click on the profile tab and edit avatar. You have to put in the URL of the avatar you want. I don't think you can upload from your computer--you have to post the pic online first (like Flickr).
