Need shift bracket

Post by 1969zeitler »

Does anyone have an extra shifter adapter that goes on the shift rod on the rear of the transaxle? I need the kind that uses the small u-joint. I could also use the rod that goes from the the adapter to the first bend, about 2 feet long or less. I have one but it is bent and too short. Could not upload a photo for some reason. I can email a photo. Thanks.

SR Racing has the "hockey stick":

You just need 5/8" rod to attach. I'm not sure where to get the u-joints. SR probably has those too.

Jim sent me the info on his hocky stick. I was hoping to find one that had the u-joint on it as I already have the rest of the shift rods up to the shifter. No doubt Jim could make me one with a u-joint.

I just ordered the bracket from Jim. I'll give it a try then send it back to Jim for him to modify!

Thanks

I saw one on a vintage Vee locally that used a Craftsman 1/2" drive U-joint out of someone's socket set. Not saying it's a workable long-term fix, just an observation of someone else's solution to this problem.....

I've also seen those flexible coils used for screw driving with power tools used to great success. If you find one that works, the best part is it'll never get sloppy
